PRESS RELEASE.
Fabienne Racing has taken note of the statements made by the Aston Martin drivers on Thursday, on the sidelines of the Mexican Grand Prix. The Philippeville outfit (southern Belgium) welcomes a set of objectives it has itself applied for as long as it has existed, on the N5 road as elsewhere.
Lance Stroll said: “It will be difficult to aim for points with our engine, so just a good race, some fun and being at the finish.” “That is word for word our Sunday objectives sheet,” says the team principal. “A good race, enjoyment, and getting the kart back in the trailer behind the Dacia. If a Formula 1 team adopts the same brief, the pathway is converging from the top.”
The team also notes the comments of Fernando Alonso, who feels that aiming for points in Mexico would be “a bit too optimistic”, but says he is a little more optimistic than for the last few races thanks to a recent understanding of the car. Fabienne Racing recognises a proven method: “At our place too, we understand the machine a little better every week. My brother-in-law’s garage, our technical partner, calls it Monday.”
Fabienne Racing points out that Aston Martin finished 15th and 16th in Austin, results judged disappointing by one driver and encouraging by the other. “We always publish both versions,” says the team principal. “The disappointing one on the family group chat, the encouraging one on Facebook.”
Finishing is the one objective no setup can guarantee. I respect that. In theory.
The team remains open to discussions with any engine-building team wishing to share its cooling data.
