PRESS RELEASE. Fabienne Racing takes note of Sergio Pérez’s extension at Cadillac, the new Formula 1 team, announced as valid “until at least 2029”. According to The Race, the deal includes the 2029 season. The announcement came on the eve of the Mexican Grand Prix, the driver’s home race. The team salutes the sense of timing.
The team has studied the file closely. Pérez and his team-mate Valtteri Bottas joined Cadillac this season on “multi-year” contracts, which were not supposed to run beyond 2027. “At our place, a multi-year contract is the RACB licence (Belgium’s motorsport federation) renewed ahead of time, one season after another,” says the team principal. “We note that in Formula 1, multi-year gets extended before it has finished being multi-year. We shall apply this to the programme.”
Fabienne Racing also notes the statement from Dan Towriss, who said: “Building a competitive team in F1 is a long-term journey, and securing Checo’s talent and leadership gives us the continuity and commitment we need to build on the strong foundation established in our first year.” “Strong foundations, we know about,” the team principal adds. “At our place, that’s the gazebo. It has stood for three seasons.”
Finally, the team notes that, according to The Race, Cadillac was not yet ready to commit to Bottas for 2027, and that Colton Herta, Frederik Vesti and Yuki Tsunoda have been mentioned for the second seat. “That’s a seat perhaps opening up,” the team principal adds. “Florian is ready. He always has been. We do not comment on lists he is not yet on.”
Your correspondent notes that one now signs until the end of the decade, which, from a reliable source, leaves the Raidillon, Spa’s famous climb, time to see a Cadillac go through.
The team remains open to discussions, until at least Monday. About Fabienne Racing: one driver, one kart, one Dacia, one project.
