PRESS RELEASE.
Fabienne Racing has taken note of Lewis Hamilton’s comments after the Malaysian Grand Prix, where the start was delayed by 40 minutes because of rain. The Ferrari driver said: “We, the old-school drivers, say ‘let’s race’, and most of the young ones say: ‘let’s not race’.”
The team wishes to clarify its position. Florian is twenty-three. He is therefore young. He has also done several Sundays at Mariembourg, the Walloon kart circuit, under the gazebo when the rain came in sideways, which, according to our sporting director, counts as old school. “Florian is ready. He always has been. In all weathers and in all schools,” says the team principal.
Fabienne Racing also notes the position of Carlos Sainz, for whom the moment the FIA gave the green light was “correct given the intensity of the rain”. The team welcomes this consensus. At our place, the green light comes from the garage of our technical partner, once the trailer is hitched to the Dacia. “We do not question the decisions of race control. We question those of the brother-in-law,” says the team principal.
Finally, the team acknowledges the rain forecast for Singapore. Hamilton says rain is forecast there every day and that it does not mean much. Fabienne Racing has the same forecast for the N5 road every Sunday. The gazebo is ready.
