End-of-day report. Post 14. Subject: a Cadillac driver between Sepang and Singapore, by bike.
Sunday, after the race, 56 kilometres to Port Dickson. Monday and Tuesday, 322 kilometres in total, arrival in Johor Bahru on Tuesday evening. Wednesday, 40 kilometres to Singapore. Declared total: 418 kilometres, four days. The driver described it on Thursday in the Marina Bay paddock.
Observations along the route. A cobra. A python. A large lizard. A dog, which chased him. A group of cows, behind which he was stuck.
I opened the folder. There is a flag for oil. One for the slow car. One for danger. Nothing for cows. In thirty years at Blanchimont, at Spa, I have reported a hare, once. Race control replied “copy”. The hare did not reply.
Sections of jungle, sometimes at night, with only the bike’s light for illumination. He said: “Riding at night with the bike lights was probably the most epic part of that crossing of the forest.” At the post, at night, we have a head torch and the thermos. We do not call that epic. We call it quarter to six.
He says he planned the two biggest days so that they were not too close to the race weekend. That is a procedure. I approve it.
Your correspondent notes that the cows, for their part, had no badge.
I wave the flag. I don’t judge. Even a herd. Nothing further to report.
It’s true, we checked: Nextgen-Auto.
