Post 14 report. Monday, reading the press, thermos beside me.
Fact. A driver of forty-one, under contract at Ferrari until the end of 2027, says he is “still all in” and is looking at the 2030s. According to The Race, extension options would run to 2028. A Grand Prix in Rwanda is announced for 2030 at the earliest. He would be forty-five.
Observation. I don’t have a television at the post. I read that in Mexico, on Thursday, he said he was “built differently”. At post 14, we are all built the same: a badge, a camping chair, a sandwich. The difference is seniority.
Observation. He told The Race: “I can’t say in four years whether I want to continue to do what I’m doing. But I still love what I’m doing now.” I sign that. Thirty years of six o’clock briefings. I don’t know about four years from now. It’s bitter in the morning. I’m going back.
Observation. He says he never wants to overstay his welcome by no longer having the performance. At the post, performance is seeing post 13 and raising the flag before the car arrives. I check it every morning. The day I raise it late, I hand back the badge. He has the same criterion. I find it fair.
Remark on the succession. Jean-Luc, my reserve, has been waiting for thirty years. He has never raised a flag in a race. He read the article too. He said nothing. He put his thermos away.
Fabienne Racing notes that a seat at Ferrari will not come free before 2027 at the earliest. The team remains open to discussions. Florian is ready. He always has been.
Post 14, received. Nothing further to report.
It’s true, we checked: The Race.
